I am a runner... For a long time, when I read this verse I saw the part about running without getting 'weary'. This weekend I saw something else. "They shall mount up with wings like eagles!" Why run, when you can fly?! Seriously. Ok, how do we do that?? It says, 'they that 'wait' upon The Lord.... I'm terrible at waiting. I like action, and I like instant gratification. This is a kind of waiting I'm learning to do though. It's not passive. It's expecting, looking for and hoping IN GOD (not the specific circumstances)!
I'm learning to hope and I'm learning to wait. Maybe soon I can fly.

You won't just fly...you will SOAR!

DeleteWithout going into details over the metaphors used here in Isaiah, I shall give you something to encourage you in your time of waiting in the adoption process.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, we are to wait on the Lord as mentioned in Isaiah. But, it is very important to know what is meant here by waiting. Contextually, it means much more than simply being patient. It means “to have hope” in the Lord. To look to God for all that we need (Isa. 26:3; 30:15). How awesome is it that if we look to God as our Hope, in our times where we feel hopeless we will not be weary, never feel faint or become tired. Anything that comes your way that could lead to discourage or despair will roll off you like water off a birds feather. Why? Because your hope is not in this world, it's strength or it's ability. Your hope does not lie in all of your strength and ability. It comes from the all powerful and infinitely wise God.
So how do we wait on the Lord? How do we have this kind of hope? It is by meditating on His character and His promises, praying, and seeking Him. Praise God that He is so loving and merciful that He provides us this kind of Hope!
